When we are at our weakest, our thinking tends to waiver. For instance, when we are feeling depressed or maybe tired, we may let our guard down. In those instances is when the enemy can catch us off guard.
EXAMPLE:
Maybe you have been feeling down about yourself. You don't like those gray hairs that showed up on your brush this morning, or your clothes have been fitting a bit tighter than usual. Then some cute guy pays you a compliment in the break-room at work. And just like that, temptation tries to kick the door down.
I have to pause here and talk to my husband. After all, he types these up for me and puts them on the website. Relax, dear. It was just an example. I got the idea from something that was said at work. And not from a cute guy, either. Something I overheard, and wished I didn't overhear...
When we are at our weakest, is when we need to be most careful about facing temptation. In battle, an army looks for the weakest place to attack. So does the enemy of our souls.
We need to be focusing our efforts on getting out of our funk. As the New Testament writer, Paul, would say: “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”
Philippians 4:8 NLT
We must always have our guard up, and willing to change our thinking. For our God loves us and will be with us no matter what.
Daddy God, we do love you. We want all you have for us. We ask that you help us think on you. That our thinking be pure and honorable. That what is right and pure be our focus. That we give you praise and thanksgiving for all you have done and are yet to do. That we stay strong in you so that we may guard ourselves from the enemy. We truly love and adore you, and want your love to shine through us in all we do. We worship your holy name. Amen!!
Be blessed.
