Anna's Life Preserver

Imagine you are in the middle of the ocean. You have been treading water forever, and you are not sure how much longer you can hang on. About the time you think it couldn't get any worse, a storm comes up. Now you are trying to tread water in 10 foot waves in the wind and the dark. You are exhausted beyond measure, and you are almost ready to just close your eyes and sink beneath the waves. You're ready to give up.

That is when you notice the life preserver floating next to you...
Where did it come from? How long has it been there? You don't know. But you do know that you can make it now because you have something to hang on to.

I have a friend, named Anna, that has been suffering from sickness. It has been brutal to her. She has had chemo and all of the side affects that go with it. She has had diagnoses that went from bad to worse, then to better, then back to worse. I honestly don't know how she has made it this far without just wanting to give up.

Somehow, when she just feels like giving up, she manages to see the life preserver of Christ. And she hangs on just a little bit longer.

Funny thing about life preservers in a stormy sea. They never take you out of the ocean, place you onto dry land, and check you in to a big comfy hotel room with cable TV. They just enable you to make it through the storm and keep you from drowning.

God didn’t set us up for an angry rejection but for salvation by our Master, Jesus Christ. He died for us, a death that triggered life. Whether we’re awake with the living or asleep with the dead, we’re alive with him! So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.
Thessalonians 5:11

PRAYER:
Father God, we praise and worship your holy name. We thank you for giving us life and that more abundantly. So today we declare healing over all that are sick and afflicted, and we pray that your healing power overflow in them. That they are restored with strength and power. We all go forth in your power, for we are a child of the most high God. We have been given the authority to declare healing come forth in Jesus name. That we are prosperous and living a life that God has given us. That we can give hope to the hopeless and strength to the weak. I thank you for living and moving in me, so that I may be your light in this world. I love you, Lord. Amen!!!
