Trust is still ringing in my spirit. What I am finding, is that I have to take the human nature version of trust out of the equation. Because trusting people is different than trusting Christ. That is where I have had the biggest issue.
Trusting people is highly overrated. When your kids lies to you, you have a hard time believing what they say. They must prove themselves over and over again that they are being truthful. And this is true for a lot of things that come up in life. There are some things you should not trust, there are some things you should be careful of trusting, and there are some things you can trust but you must guard your heart for the possibility of failure because it will always exists.
One thing that will remain true, is that we never have any reason not to trust God. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He will speak and guide if we will listen and stop comparing him to people of this world.
And that is where we slip up. We subconsciously compare Him to the people of this world that are prone to failure. It's unlikey that we mean too. But we tend to do it none-the-less. I have even heard some blame God for the choices of other people. "Why would God allow that person to do this to me?"
Just think about the silliness of that question. God allows you the freedom of choice, but should deny it to everyone else? It's Ok for you to talk about someone behind their back and gossip, but God should have stopped that other person from doing the same to you? You can slip up and make some horrible decision that ends up hurting others in the process, but others should be kept on a giant God leash in their decisions? Unfortunately it does not work that way. And we know it. So we should stop blaming God for all the bad things that go on in this world.
My husband told me that there is a military unit that tracks other countries for nuclear weapons violations. He said that they have a motto. "In God we trust. In all others we monitor." I think that is true here as well. Make sure to draw the line between God and everything else. Because God will never fail you.
Period.
“That’s why, when I heard of the solid trust you have in the Master Jesus and your outpouring of love to all the followers of Jesus, I couldn’t stop thanking God for you—every time I prayed, I’d think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus Christ, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!”
