If you have not had the chance to see the movie "War Room", you need to see it. It's very good. Although you ladies might need to have a box of tissue handy. It made me realize just how much war is going on in our lives. It also made me realize how the war stories in the Bible with swords and arrows, relate to that spiritual war that is going on in the world around us.
Every single story in the Bible that depicts war, has examples that we can apply to our own lives.
EXAMPLE:
Gideon was told by God to take a very small force and attack a much larger one in a very unconventional way. It is a great story of following God's specific instructions to see victory in your life, despite how the odds are stacked against you. He started with a large army, but was told to send a bunch of people home. He was then told to reduce his forces even more so they were vastly outnumbered. And when he finally attacked, he was told to surround the enemy at night with a bunch of oil lamps in clay jars. On signal, they broke their clay jars. Seeing the lamps, the enemy thought they were about to be overrun. They ran around scared for their lives and ended up attacking theirselves. Gideon didn't have to lift a sword.
God gives us specific instructions. Sometimes they may sound crazy. When we follow them, we find that God was working on our behalf to win the battle for us the whole time.
EXAMPLE:
Joshua was told to surround the enemy city with it's high fortified walls. He was told to walk around it in a circle and sing praises to God. They did that for a few days, and on the last, they gave a great shout. The walls fell all by themselves.
If we listen and study His word, He will give us specific instructions for victory.
Are you facing a battle in your life? Probably so. We should look to the examples of battle in the Bible to learn how to win in our own.
Do you think everything is wonderful and you are not facing any battles? You are probably wrong. The enemy is likely surrounding you right now. Best to look to His word and build up your defenses.
“Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.”
2 Chronicles , NLT
PRAYER:
Daddy God, we love you. We thank you for helping us fight our battles. Whether we are fighting a sickness in our bodies, or even in our minds, you are there fighting for us. Even when it is something like a quota or a deadline at work. Even if we are trying to finish our school year with good grades, you are always there to help and guide us. We just have to be willing to listen and obey. Jesus loves you all. And I pray that you are able to give your battles to the Lord and let him see you through, as we trust him more and more. We praise and worship your holy name. Amen!!!
Be blessed.
