What Are You Working For?

Today I spent a lot of time in a dentist chair. There are two things that we can all agree on when it comes to dentist chairs. Number one, if you are sitting in one, you would much rather be somewhere else. Number two, you have a lot of time to think. Today, while wishing I was somewhere else and thinking a lot, I began to focus my thinking on the word "work".

I am sure it had a lot to do with the TV I was watching. They had one mounted on the wall for patients to focus on instead of the work they were having done on their teeth. As I channel surfed, I began to consider just how much Christians are under attack.

We are ridiculed for what we believe, and subjected to the notion that if we are not silent about our convictions, then we are intolerant and bigoted. We are compelled on every TV show to conform to the rest of the world. Our children are taught in our schools that they must except whatever the popular opinions are, and ignore Godly principles. Divorce rates are at all time highs, all the while most every popular drama, movie, and sitcom on TV seem to glamorize adultery.

Everything seems to be trying to influence us away from Godly principles. Our kids in school are outcasts unless they conform. Women and men both, are encouraged to focus on careers instead of family.

I felt God speaking to my spirit. All these people have been called by God. Even the ones that don't believe in Him. We all talk about the struggle we face in our marriages and family and how the world is against what God is doing. But what are we doing about it?

What I am finding in life is that things are constantly pushing against us, and we have to be willing to work to keep our marriages from being taken. We have to work at keeping our kids influenced in a positive way, and beating back what they hear outside of our homes. Families have to fight every day, because if we don't, we lose ground on our spirituality, instead of gaining ground. We cannot get comfortable or complacent. For if we do, we could actually lose what God has worked so hard to produce in us. We cannot be lazy. Just like we must work to live, we must be willing to work and fight for our marriages and families.

PRAYER:
Daddy God, we come to you today ready to fight the battle that the enemy is putting before us. We will not allow the enemy to take hold of our marriages or our kids and family. We will fight, and the enemy will lose this fight. We declare wholeness to be present in our families. We declare health and peace wrap around us and the enemy be bound. We love you with all we are. You are so precious and mighty. We worship and praise your holy name. Amen!!!
